Ed Westwick has claimed that girls often use “weird” chat up lines when trying to seduce him. The 23-year-old British actor is best known for his role as playboy Chuck Bass in the American series Gossip Girl. Fans often get confused between the real Ed and his womanising television character – meaning he is sometimes subjected to strange approaches from fans. Ed insists that embarrassing pick-up lines aren’t the best way to attract him.
“They say the weirdest things like, I’ve been to London.Then they try to have a conversation with me all about London. I’m like: Great!, A lot of people still don’t realise I’m English, which is funny,” he said in an interview with the British edition of OK! magazine. “The amount of times I’ve said, Yes, I’m English!”
Ed, who has had an on/off relationship with his Gossip Girl co-star Jessica Szohr and has also previously revealed a soft spot British singer Cheryl Cole, went on to reveal that he refuses to use chat up lines on the opposite sex. The actor insists that he doesn’t have any trademark moves to woo women he is attracted to, believing instead that action, often speaks louder than words.
“No, I’m not a ‘Get your coat, you’ve pulled’ kinda guy although I’m sure I did use that line when I was 13 at the under-18s disco!” Ed laughed.
