Donnie Darko sequel S. Darko starts shooting May 18
|
|
UK-based sales company Velvet Octopus will be launching sales in Cannes for S. Darko, billed as the sequel to the 2001 cult hit Donnie Darko. Fox has already taken North American rights.
Daviegh Chase reprises her role as Donnie’s younger sister. The cast for S. Darko also includes Ed Westwick (Son Of Rambow, Gossip Girl), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) and Justin Chatwin (Dragon Ball).
Ash Shah’s Silver Nitrate and Newmarket Capital are producing. Los Angeles-based Chris Fisher, who previously made Nightstalker and Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders, will direct. The budget is pegged around $10m.

Ed Westwick Got Bullied Around
|
|
Ed Westwick’s Chuck is the cause of much drama and trouble on Gossip Girl, but in real life, the actor says he’s been the victim more than he has an antagonist.
The 20-year-old actor grew up with two older brothers, who had their own way of bullying him — much like the dismissive elder sibling character he plays in his new flick Son of Rambow.
“My middle brother, Will, could be a demon,” Ed tells OK! “He pushed me off a stool and broke my arm. But he used to take me on his adventures in back of my parents’ house. There’s a small forest area where we used to build treehouses. One time, he pushed me out of the treehouse. I had a sore back for days.”
Such abuse is typical of brother relationships, Ed says, and it’s almost an unwritten rule that “you treat your brother like – for the lack of a better word – s***.”
But all those cuts, scrapes and bruises are things of the past now.
“In later years, we look back on it and laugh at it,” Ed says. “He was very impulsive when he was younger. He didn’t realize what he was doing until afterwards.”
These days, Will enjoys his baby brother’s success.
“It’s been a hell of a lot of fun,” Ed says.

Dating | 17 Questions with Ed Westwick
|
|
Ed Westwick may play a bad boy on Gossip Girl, but in our hearts, he’s oh so good!
1. When was your first kiss?
Um … 6? Well, what are we talking, we’re not talking proper kiss, right? Okay, 6 and … 10. No, is that bad? Should I say 11? I’m pure and innocent.
2. Who’s your celebrity crush?
Scarlett Johansson — she has been for a while, and always will be. I love her style.
3. What’s a girl fashion trend that confuses you?
None. As long as it’s done the right way, I think it’ll be attractive. It’s not about what it is, it’s about who’s wearing it. From my limited knowledge of women’s fashion, everything is pretty good.
4. What’s the girly movie you secretly love?
There was a really good one, but I can’t think of it.
5. What’s your TV guilty pleasure?
Watching Gossip Girl [laughs]. I can’t stand watching myself on TV. I think I share the opinion of my character that a lot of the audience shares: It’s a “love to hate” kind of thing. As the season’s progressed, I think everyone’s had sympathy for him. I think he’s an alluring character; he’s very interesting. He has these slices of his personality. He can be the devil, but at times he can be very charming. It can be a very dangerous concoction. I think he has a good heart, but his heart is often tempted by corrupt desires.
6. Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
Chase Crawford! No, no. I don’t know. Chase Crawford can play the villain. I’d like to see Daniel Day-Lewis spend three months getting into my character.

“100 FEET” teaser poster!
|
|
ArrowInTheHead scored the EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for Eric Red’s “100 FEET”, and boy is it sweeeeeet!
Featuring star Famke Janssen looking as terrified as ever, and a ghostly giant hand of death, the teaser poster does exactly what a teaser poster is supposed to do: get you interested and leave you wanting more.
Co-starring Bobby Cannavale, Ed Westwick, Michael Pare, and John Fallon, “100 FEET” goes a little something like this: After Marnie Watson kills her abusive husband in self-defense, she is condemned to house arrest… only to discover that the house is possessed by the enraged and violent spirit of her dead husband.

Ed Westwick hearts Scarlett Johansson
|
|
Gossip Girl’s resident troublemaker, Ed Westwick, stopped by Good Day New York to discuss his much loved CW series, as well as his new role in the film Son of Rambow.
“I’m the protective big brother who eventually realizes his responsibility, Westwick says of his movie role. “I’m very familiar with the whole relationship. I had an older brother who wasn’t always the nicest.”
Speaking of not always being the nicest, Ed opened up about playing Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl. “Everyone has kind of gotten used to him being this bad kind of person, Ed says, adding, “But he’s redeemed himself in some ways and people have grown to like him.”
When it comes to dishing on his own love life, Ed stays mum about who his real main squeeze is, although he is quick to admit that Scarlett Johansson is at the top of his celebrity dating list. “I love her whole style,” he says. “She really does it for me.”
We wonder who Chuck would pick?

Bad-boy role is a hit for Ed
|
|
A TEEN drama that has taken the US by storm stars an actor from Stevenage.
Ed Westwick, 20, has landed the role of Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl which has just hit British television screens.
The show, which is based on the best-selling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, has been created by the producers of the OC and is set in the evil world of over-privileged youngsters from New York’s Upper East Side.
Ed, who studied for A-levels in business, law and communication before doing a two-week summer course at the National Youth Theatre, plays a hard-drinking, playboy son of a billionaire. He has become a pin-up for millions of teenage girls and the subject of feverish discussion on fan sites.
He got the part after heading to Los Angeles in February last year where he auditioned for the pilot episode.
Speaking to a national newspaper, he said: “I’m no Brad Pitt. I’m not under any false illusion about that. But I do walk down the street, especially in New York, and people know who I am. Some come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy it.”
Ed has also had small roles in Afterlife, Casualty and Doctors and played a teenager burglar Zoran, a Bosnian immigrant in the film Breaking and Entering, starring Jude Law.

A Gossip Girl Love Fest
|
|
Three of the cast members of Gossip Girl, namely Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester, and Ed Westwick overshowered their fellow coworkes with sappy compliments for TV Guide.
“Chace can appeal to pretty much anybody because he’s so sweet and cultured. He has this kind of moral [center] - I think it’s because he’s from the South. He’s a gentleman and he’s also very fashionable. And he’s fun to work with. Chace is really good at making different voices and quoting movies. He loves talking about football, but I could care less. He knows he’s hot, but he’s smart about it. He doesn’t let it get to his head and I think that’s really attractive.” - Leighton Meester
“What makes Leighton so attractive is that she’s very confident. She’s comfortable in her own skin and she’s not trying to win anyone’s approval, which is sexy. She’s also really intelligent and has a great sense of humor. I feel like I have an odd sense of humor and she does, too. We’re both kind of weirdos. When you’re hanging out with her, you’re free to do anything. She doesn’t judge. Leighton was born in the wrong generation. She should have been born in the 70’s because she’s very free spirited. If people would be shocked by anything about her, it’s how nice she is, how personable. And obviously, she’s gorgeous.” - Chace Crawford
“Ed is just incredible. He’s got that kind of bad boy edge to him, but he has a real soft side. I find him to be the most down to earth, cool and sweet guy. He gets into these funny moods where he’s really silly. Ed’s also in a band and he’s great on stage. They played the other night, and I was yelling! He’s really artistic and an amazing singer and dancer. He loves good rock, alternative music. He’s introduced me to a lot of stuff that I really love now, like the Libertines and Babyshambles. Girls just follow him. I have a feeling Ed would do OK even if he wasn’t on a TV Show.” - Leighton Meester

WESTWICK DEVASTATED BY MENTOR’S DEATH
|
|
GOSSIP GIRL star ED WESTWICK was devastated by the sudden death of his mentor, Oscar-winning director ANTHONY MINGHELLA.
Westwick worked alongside Minghella on his first major project - 2007 film Breaking and Entering, alongside Jude Law.
The 20-year-old Brit credits the English Patient director with his own career success - claiming he was an acting and life coach rolled into one.
Westwick says, “My first job ever was Breaking and Entering with Anthony (Minghella), who I owe an incredible amount to. I was shocked and devastated by his death.
“He was someone who gave me not just acting lessons but life lessons through acting. He helped me a lot and basically taught me what I needed to get the next job and what I needed to step forward and keep moving on.”
Minghella died in March (08) at the age of 54, after suffering from a haemorrhage following an operation to remove cancer from his tonsils and neck.

Gossip Girl Casting and Coupling News!
|
|
Warning! This has some spoilers so if you don’t want to read it, ignore this post! Also, check back for GG caps coming soon and clips! Now onto the article …
There comes a time in every TV fan’s life when you just gotta stop, drop what you’re doing and let out a nice, big…
Squeee!
Today is such a day because in just a few hours, this season’s most addictive guilty pleasure returns to our living rooms: the CW’s Gossip Girl.
First, a little exclusive casting news: The CW confirms that Lydia Hearst (heiress of William Randolph Hearst and daughter of Patricia Hearst) will be guest starring in the season finale of GG. She plays Amelia, an interior designer for Bart and Lily’s apartment and has a “moment” with Chuck Bass. (Oooh, she had better hope Queen B doesn’t see!)
Lydia was most recently spotted by our own Marc Malkin hanging out with Gossip newbie Michelle Trachtenberg. Here’s a pic… (Click here)
But more importantly, if you’re dying to know who’s gonna be hooking up (Chuck and Blair? Chuck and Nate? Vanessa and Nate?), read on for some exclusive Gossip couples’ dish!
The Devious and Delicious: Chuck and Blair
OMFG, indeed! If you’ve been rooting for devious and delicious Blair and Chuck (Bluck? Chair?) ever since their winter burlesque-bar rendezvous (hot enough to wilt iron!), you’ll be pleased to hear what sources tell me: Nate will be moving on with another girl (see below), clearing the way for what looks to be some blossoming Bluck bliss. They continue to “dance around each other” as the season continues, says one source, “and it looks like they’re getting together.” OMFG Yay!
The Goody (Cheap) Shoes: Nate and Vanessa
According to sources, Nate is conjuring up a little somethin’-somethin’ with Vanessa, and something tells me this pairing may be sorta awesome…She’s much more in line with his high moral compass than Blair is, and given recent financial woes Nate’s father went through, they can bond about being in a lower economic bracket. This could be wuuuuuve!
The Scandalous Staple: Serena and Dan
S and D are going strong, but they won’t be without scandal…Sources tell me that Trachtenberg’s character, Georgina Sparks, will try to make a sex tape of Serena—without her knowledge. “She’s coming back to say, ‘You can’t forget about me, and I’m gonna ruin your lives a little bit,’” Michelle says of her character. Sounds like G and Heidi Montag would be fast friends!
