Ed Westwick told us his Word of the Day was “Trousers.” The question….is that a veiled reference to Chace Crawford?

Here’s a fun rumor: Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick is supposedly in talks to design a fashion line. Fashionista reports:

Apparently, the king of ripped shirts and lead singer of Filthy Youth can’t wait to add his “two cents” to “the creative side” of a certain label related to his Vanity Fair shoot.

His outfit, (in the August issue), is Thom Browne, but his sunglasses are Jack Spade and, well, that would be the most perfect collaboration ever.

Now often when celebrities have their sights set on fashion design, they drop hints to the media. The closest thing we’ve found from Westwick so far is in the May issue of Seventeen:

What’s your dream job? Probably landscape gardening. I think gardens are fantastic, and I’d love to draw and design and stuff like that. I love just planting flowers during the summer. There’s something very humble about it, and natural and beautiful.

Okay, so gardening is a far cry from fashion design. Then again, flowers are in this season. And let’s be honest — “actor-cum-gardener” just doesn’t have quite the ring of “actor–cum–clothing designer.”

“I just laugh them off,” Westwick told PEOPLE about the discussions heating up the Internet – questioning the nature of his and Crawford’s relationship.

“What are you going to do?” says Westwick. “People who know me and Chace and the cast know that we are all great friends. And that’s the extent of it all. Those things that go around are just amusing to us, really.”

Despite the scuttlebutt, Westwick was in great spirits Friday night at Tao Las Vegas as he celebrated his 21st birthday. Crawford had planned to join the party, but canceled.

“I thought he was going to be here, said the birthday boy. “I was hoping he would make a show.”

Despite the cast’s non-appearance at the bash, they did send Westwick birthday presents, didn’t they?

Well, no.

“They haven’t gotten me anything, just a ‘Happy Birthday’ and a smile,” Westwick said good-naturedly. “They’re a terrible bunch, aren’t they?”

His family did much better: “I got a really cool, rare whiskey bottle from my cousin.”

As for Gossip Girl, filming has moved from the city to the beach. What can viewers expect? Promises Westwick, “Debauchery and warm weather.”

For freshly minted stars like David Cook, flirting doesn’t come as naturally as performing! “Looking a pretty woman in the eye and convincing her I’m worth taking a chance on is different,” he says. “It takes a specific brand of guts, and it’s not the kind I have.”

One advantage to being on the other side of the lens, says the elder Spears, “I can go to any party I want, but I can also slip away and not have paparazzi follow me.” Though he’s not in the public eye like his little sis, they do share similar traits. “We are both sensitive,” he says. We get our feelings hurt easily, Britney and I.”

TV show Gossip Girl has taken over this year’s Teen Choice Awards with 14 nominations.

The show and its young, sexy cast lead the way for the August prizegiving, with R&B star Chris Brown landing nine nods and show host Miley Cyrus four.

The Teen Choice Awards leader, Justin Timberlake, who has 21 awards, is nominated for three surfboards.

GOSSIP GIRL star ED WESTWICK has denied he spends all his time clubbing in New York - insisting he rarely makes the most of the city’s celebrity social scene.

The British actor is often portrayed as a dedicated party-goer by the press and has been likened to his wildchild character in the hit U.S. TV show.

But Westwick is keen to point out that he doesn’t frequent New York’s glitzy parties as it isn’t good for his acting career - plus at 20 he is too young to be going to nightclubs.

He says, “I’m not into sceney spots, so we hang out in people’s apartments. I’m only 20. And I’d rather be known for my career rather than my whereabouts. To be respected as an actor it doesn’t help to be seen out in the clubs.”

Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick has dismissed speculation that he is dating his male co-star.

Internet reports have suggested that the 20-year-old, who plays womaniser Chuck Bass, is in a gay relationship with Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald).

However, he quashed the rumours in an interview with the New York Daily News, saying: “It’s just because we live together, but we’re just mates.”
